If you had no pressure when cold and oil thick a filter restriction might be the problem but if the oil flows when cold it's going to flow easier and quicker through the filter when it's hot and thin. If he suggested seals and it doesn't work no customer is going to thank him for trying to save them a few pound but they will tell him he should have done it right the first time and tell him there not paying the labour for getting it done right, so as a rule now is suggest do it right, my way, the first time. It's going to cost the same in labour if not more to renew the seals, at which time it might not be a success and almost certainly the pump is not going to be as good as new and won't last as long, so for the sake of €400 euro now it could save twice that between doing the job again in s relativity short period of time, along with new oil and filters if the pump does up considering it will be under considerably more pressure with new seals compared to now.Īnother reason I'd say a new pump is the mechanic is covering himself.
